WHAT KIND OF
WORK IS 'A DAY OF A BIRD'?
This product is a wall clock reminiscent of a bird.
Although it functions as an ordinary watch, it contains the keywords of Time Capturing and Inner-motility through the abstract shape of a bird's silhouette.
WHAT WAS THE INTENTION OF DESIGNING WITH THE THEME OF 'BIRD'?
What designer is discovering
(via this bird-shaped watch) is that there are many different poses for a 24-hour clock.
A bird in flight, a bird sleeping with its face buried in its body, a bird going downhill, a bird eating insects, a bird resting, a bird lying on the water's edge enjoying a backstroke, and so on.
THERE SEEMS TO BE A MEANING GIVEN BY 'BIRD' AND 'TIME'. WHAT MEANING DO YOU WANT TO CONVEY TO USERS?
As the clock goes through the day, the bird also goes through the day. As the observer watches the clock run, he spends the day with the various appearances of the birds.
When the each time and bird shape of behaviors are well matched
(e.g. 4:35A.M. is, “The early bird catches the worm”, 8:35A.M. is “However, the lazy bird still sleeps”)
When visitors discover a new look from unexpected poses
When faced with the beautiful sense of balance created by the combination of these abstract shapes in a formative sense Visitors intuitively feel fun and loveliness, furthermore, each moment of the day reminds us of a special image. In general, a product called ‘clock’ deals with the metaphysical thing called 'time'. When looking at the clock at each hour, people perceive it as neutral information 'time' rather than associating it with a special image. Time becomes more special if people can associate a unique and special image for each time. For this reason, the designer designed this product with the aim of helping people subconsciously appreciate ‘moment’ and ‘time’ more meaningfully through the experience of capturing moments in everyday life.
